How to lower cholesterol naturally.

In people with high cholesterol levels, the dangers are real. Due to the cholesterol build up in the arteries there is the danger of heart attack and stroke.

However, in most cases, there are many ways on how to lower cholesterol naturally. For convenience sake, they can be grouped into 2 categories:

1. Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes (TLC).
2. Nutritional Supplements.

In the following paragraphs you will find a brief description of various Lifestyle changes you can do and nutritional supplements you can take, and at least, you’ll find one or more than one way, on how to lower cholesterol naturally.

If you’d like to know more information on any specific way how to lower cholesterol naturally, click on the blue text link at the top of each paragraph.

First way how to lower cholesterol naturally.

Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes (TLC).

Lifestyle changes are sometimes difficult to make. It’s hard breaking a habit after all. However, knowing what you need to change is the first step towards that change.

Watch your diet and food.

Fitting in the recommended 5 servings of fruits and vegetables (2 of one group and 3 of the other) helps take the place of some of the more processed snacks. Fruits and vegetables are mostly fat free. Maintain a diet that is made of 2/3 of vegetables and fruits and 1/3 of other foods.

Latest research suggest that cholesterol lowering foods such as avocados, almonds, olive oil, soy beans, garlic, shiitake mushrooms, chili peppers, oat bran, beans (kidney, pintos, black, navy, etc.), onions, fatty fish, and flax seed play a crucial role in lowering LDL and sometimes raising HDL levels.

Stop Smoking

Ingredients in cigarette smoke are extremely oxidizing. High cholesterol is particularly dangerous when it is oxidized. Smokers have much higher need for antioxidants. The B Complex vitamins, including 2 forms of vitamin B3 (nicotinic acid and nicotinamide), can reduce nicotine cravings.

Exercise and Lose Weight.

Everyone knows that the keys to good cardiovascular health are exercise and maintaining your ideal weight. Just a few minutes per day can increase your level of high-density lipoproteins (HDL or “good” cholesterol).

Just 10 minutes of exercise first thing in the morning can increase your metabolic rate for the rest of the day. Consumption of water so that you are fully hydrated can increase your metabolic rate 24 hours per day.

Second way how to lower cholesterol naturally.

Nutritional Supplements.

I’m not talking about supplements that some “auntie” or “uncle” used and they got in top shape and never felt better. But there are clinically proven supplements on how tolower cholesterol naturally by 10 to 20 percent.

As you’ll see we are not anymore in that stage where nutritional supplements are recommended by friends, but there is solid proof and science backing up the claims on how to lower cholesterol naturally through supplements.

Policosanol.

Policosanol has been subject to numerous clinical trials, which have proven its effectiveness on how to lower cholesterol naturally.

Policosanol works by helping the liver control its production and breakdown of cholesterol. Clinical studies show that policosanol is as effective as prescription drugs on how to loweri cholesterol naturally, without side effects.

For example, in a study of 53 diabetic patients, policosanol lowered total cholesterol by 14.2 percent, LDL (bad) cholesterol 20.4 percent and even raised the levels of HDL (good) cholesterol by 7.5 percent.

Gugulipid or guggul-lipid.

Guggulipid is an ancient herb from India. Over recent years many clinical trials have proven its efficacy on how to lower cholesterol naturally and also it is one of the few substances that can effectively lower triglycerides.

In fact, these trials have shown this herb to be more effective in lowering cholesterol than the modern statin drugs, but with no side effects. Statin drugs do not lower triglycerides.

Click her for policosanol and guggulipid supplement, two in one, and how to lower cholesterol naturally .

Fish Oil Supplements.

A lot has been said about the cholesterol lowering effects of omega 3 fatty acids and fish oil. However, is it really true that they lower cholesterol!? By clicking here you will find out the naked truth that reveals whether fish oil supplements prevent heart disease and lower cholesterol.

Garlic Cholesterol.

In a large study of 220 patients, the garlic group took 800 milligrams of a powdered garlic for four months. This group experienced a 12 percent drop in cholesterol and a 17 percent drop in triglycerides. The placebo group had little change.

Flax Seed and Cholesterol.

Flaxseed is a whole grain that can be found in health food stores and some supermarkets.

In one study by Bahram Arjmandi, Ph.D., of Oklahoma State University, supplements of ground flax seed were given to 38 women with extremely high cholesterol levels were given bread and muffins containing 38 g of either sunflower or flaxseed four times daily.

After six weeks, flaxseed result on how to lower cholesterol naturally was: total cholesterol was reduced by 6.9 percent and LDL (bad) cholesterol by 14.7 percent.

Red Yeast Rice.

Red yeast rice has profound effects to lower cholesterol naturally.

A double-blind, placebo-controlled study was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. It demonstrates that “red yeast rice significantly reduces total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and total triacylglycerol concentrations compared with placebo and provides a new, novel, food-based approach to lowering cholesterol in the general population.”

The company that scientifically proved how to lower cholesterol naturally with red yeast rice is Pharmanex.

It discovered that red yeast rice contains a number of active compounds, including lovastatin, the ingredient in the hugely successful prescription drug Mevacor.

This helped to explain Mevacor’s success on how to lower cholesterol, but it was also the start of a tale of woe and intrigue for the company, which put red yeast rice in pill form and named it Cholestin.

Instead of supporting a company that was spending money to standardize, sterilize and study its natural remedy, the FDA decided Cholestin was an “unapproved drug” on how to lower cholesterol and tried to ban it. Click here if you’d like to know more about the FDA ruling and how to lower cholesterol naturally with cholestin.

There you have 2 main ways on how to lower cholesterol naturally.

There’s a third way on how to lower cholesterol, but that’s not natural. It is through the use of statin drugs, which have adverse side effects on your health, such as muscle weakening or liver damage.

Supplements can lower cholesterol naturally without side effects and more or less with same results as drugs. The only difference if there’s any, would be the time: it may take a bit longer to lower cholesterol naturally through supplements.

Uterine Fibroids – Natural Treatment

Uterine fibroids?-fibrous tissue growing inside or just outside the uterus?are fairly common, especially in women between the ages of 35 and 40. Some sources claim that almost half of all women in this age group have at least 1 fibroid, and that some have up to 100. Fibroids appear to be at least partially the result of genes, so be aware of your family history. Other risk factors include a high-fat diet, alcohol consumption, B-vitamin deficiency, stress and excess weight. But often, fibroids are due to too much of a potentially carcinogenic form of estrogen. While estrogen’s ability to stimulate cell growth is great for skin and hair, it can be a major problem when it comes to uterine tissue.

Fibroids are easiest to treat when they are small, but they are also very hard to detect at this stage?tiny fibroids rarely produce any symptoms. Many women are not aware that they even have them. As fibroids grow larger, however, they cause menstrual bleeding to increase, and they become quite painful, especially during menstruation. Eventually, they can press on your surrounding organs, especially the bladder and kidneys, and this sometimes causes such severe symptoms that removal is the only option. Some surgeons, however, are able to remove only the fibroids and keep the uterus intact, but this does not solve the problem. About half of the women who keep their uteruses find that their fibroids grow back. Fibroids are responsible for about one-third of all hysterectomies.

Because fibroids normally shrink during menopause (although taking estrogen may reactivate them), some women choose to wait and see if the fibroids go away by themselves. If you do opt for a hysterectomy, talk to your surgeon about whether or not you should leave your uterus intact.

One way to prevent the return of fibroids?and often to avoid surgery in the first place?is to adopt a natural prevention and treatment plan using herbs. I do not know many women whose fibroids have been eliminated as a result of herbs, but I do know several whose fibroids shrank so much that the women could easily live with them.

Since fibroids are rarely life-threatening and generally grow slowly, you may have time to try herbs. You may also be able to speed things along by using other natural healing methods, especially acupuncture, in your therapy. I suggest seeking the help of a natural health care professional who has had success treating fibroids.

Vitex slows the growth of fibroids and even helps dissolve them by normalizing hormonal imbalances. As fibroids are dissolved, herbs such asprickly ash bark, ginger, cleavers, mullein and burdock assist the lymph and blood systems in eliminating the fibroid tissue. Regular use of castor oil packs and sitz baths also help to eliminate fibroids, probably by improving circulation. Castor oil packs should be used at least three times a week, 30 to 60 minutes a session; sitz baths should be taken as often as possible, every day if you can manage it.

While you are working on getting rid of your fibroids, you can also take herbs to relieve the symptoms. It is important to keep excessive bleeding, menstrual cramps and anemia controlled with the appropriate herbs because these problems will slow the healing process. Herbs that reduce bleeding and strengthen the uterus include redraspberry and motherwort. It is best to avoid herbs that stimulate menstrual bleeding, such as don quai, unless a knowledgeable herbalist includes them in a formula designed for you.

Uterine Fibroid Tea

1 teaspoon each burdock root, cramp bark, motherwort leaves and wild yam rhizome

½ teaspoon each prickly ash bark, cleavers leaves, mullein leaves and ginger rhizome

1 quart water

Combine herbs and water in a pot and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for a few minutes. Turn off heat and let sit for about 20 minutes. Strain and drink at least 2 cups a day. This formula can also be taken as a tincture or pills, which can be more practical, since you may need to take it for several months.

The following article gives information about arthritis and joint pains. There are many things that can be done to help ease the discomfort and bring about some arthritis relief.

As part of our regular newsletter there will be the latest news and examples of successful complementary treatments so you should sign up now if you haven’t already (it’s free).

Easing the pain caused by arthritis

Arthritis comes from the Greek word “arthron” meaning joint. Arthritis literally means ‘joint inflammation’. According to the Arthritis Foundation, there are more than 100 different diseases that produce joint pain and inflammation – everything from the flu to certain cancers. The two most common forms of ‘arthritis’ are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

What can cause arthritis?

Other diseases and infections which cause arthritis include:

gout*, psoriasis*, tuberculosis*.

*gout is a metabolic disease characterised by painful inflammation of certain joints, especially of the big toe and foot. One of the main causes is sodium urate which is deposited into these parts of the body. This is often caused by a diet being too rich in sugar, wine or junk foods.

*psoriasis: a skin disease characterised by the formation of reddish spots and patches covered with silvery scales: tends to run in families.

*tuberculosis: a communicable disease caused by infection with the bacterium tubercle bacillus, most frequently affecting the lungs.

Our circulation formula or detox & cleanse products should be considered.

Osteoarthritis symptoms and pain relief

Osteoarthritis (osteo – bones or bones) is a degenerative disorder in which the cartilage between the joints wears away. The body attempts to repair this damage by producing bony outgrowths at the margins of affected joints, but these, in fact, cause pain and stiffness.

It is usually age-related and affects the hips, knees, spine and shoulders in particular. Obesity is an aggravating factor and excess weight can make it much worse.

Rheumatoid arthritis treatment

Rheumatoid* arthritis is a chronic, progressive disorder. The synovial* membrane lining the joint becomes inflamed, spreading over and eroding the cartilage, causing the characteristic pain and stiffness. Anaemia*, joint infections and pericarditis* are all complications of rheumatoid arthritis.

Definitions:

*rheumatoid: from latin rheumatisums catarrh, from Greek rheumatismos, from rheum : a watery discharge from the eyes or nose.

*synovial: a transparent lubrication fluid, secreted by the membranes lining the joints and tendon sheaths, etc

*anaemia: a deficiency in the number of red blood cells in the blood or in their reduced haemoglobin content.

*pericarditis: inflammation of the membranous sac enclosing the heart.

What can be done about arthritis?

For more information visit the improve my circulation page. Here you will see much more information about improving circulation and the benefits for arthritis.

Ginger

Ginger is a fantastic herb. It has been used for the treatment of many aliments. Studies show it is very beneficial in relieving arthritis. Its anti-inflammatory properties make it a well know arthritis treatment.

Ginger contains zingibain, a special proteolytic* enzyme. Research shows that proteolytic enzymes have anti-inflammatory properties. Taken as a tincture, capsule, as a tea or fresh, it does not have any reported side effects to high dosages. A dish prepared with ginger will actually give you a medicinal dose of the herb.

*proteolytic: the hydrolysis of proteins into simpler compounds by the action of enzymes.

Cayenne

Cayenne Pepper or Red Pepper ( Capsicum frutescens ) is another wonderful herb, with a wide range of medical properties to heal the body. Considered one of the best local and circulatory stimulants, cayenne may be used externally for poor circulation, unbroken chilblains and pains associated with arthritis and lumbago Capsicum creams are readily available or you can add a few drops of cayenne tincture to an ointment. If you do add to a cream, use sparingly at first gradually increasing the dosage.

Cayenne can be very hot and some people are sensitive. So test it first. Taken internally cayenne stimulates the heart, regulating the blood flow and strengthening the arteries and capillaries. Cayenne also contains capsaicin, a pain-relieving chemical. This also triggers the body to release endorphins, natures own opiates. Take cayenne as a tincture for fast acting absorption, and include the spice in your food.

Garlic and Ginkgo Biloba

Both garlic and ginkgo biloba have been shown to help with circulation and improve blood flow. This is important where arthritis is concerned. You have to try to improve your circulation. This will help bring oxygen to the affected area and take away harmful deposits which have built up.

All of these herbs may help. We have produced a special formula which includes all four of these herbs: ginger, cayenne, garlic and ginkgo biloba. You can see more information about the circulation formula here (click).

Other things which may help:

Bromelain a proteclytic enzyme present in pineapples helps prevent inflammation. Bromelain helps the body get rid if immune antigen complex compounds that are inflicted in some arthritic conditions In addition to zingibain and bromelain there are other proteclytic enzymes that have similar effects. Kiwifruit, paw paw and figs are excellent sources. Calcium is always needed by the body and especially to aid in the prevention of osteoporosis.

Food and herbs high in calcium are : Alfalfa, Liquorice, Red clover shoots, Camomile, Chives, Coltsfoot, Dandelion, Horsetail, Meadowsweet, Nettle, Plantain, Watercress, Cabbage, Thyme and basil.

Devils Claw a tuber found in South Africa contains a glycoside called harpagoside that helps to reduce inflammation in joints. Best taken in the tincture form especially for inflamed joints. Also good for itchy skin with no obvious cause. One caution, this herb should be avoided during pregnancy.

Additional herbs that will assist in treating arthritis are: Turmeric, Willow a natural pain killer, Liquorice which has anti-inflammatory qualities, rosemary, oregano, basil, camphor, celery seed, meadowsweet.

Stinging Nettles have been used for thousands of years!

Nature provides us with many plants that will aid in the relieving of joint pain. The most radical and perhaps the most daunting is Stinging Nettles. It is called urtication – from nettles botanical name, Utrica dioica- and dates back to the biblical times. Quiet simply the plant is grasped in a gloved hand and the stiff, swollen joint is swatted, thrashed with the sting. Urtication often provides considerable relief. The tiny stingers of the nettle plant actually provide microinjections of several chemicals, one of which is histamine.

The theory is, these chemicals, as well as causing the sting, trigger anti-inflammatory action by the body and so relieve arthritis. This is an ancient folklore, that seems to work for many people all over the world. Nettles grow in may countries and in each stinging nettles has developed a reputation as a treatment for arthritis. For the less adventurous of us, a fresh nettle tea or eating nettles will offer the same long term benefits. Gently steam the young tender leaves, and enjoy as a vegetable. They do lose the stinging effect when cooked!

Drop Your Blood Pressure

I received an interesting report from Agora Health Ltd. that you can read at the following url:

==> FSPOnlineRecommends

I copy below some of the more interesting points:

The high blood pressure epidemic that mainstream medicine is failing to curb for 70% of patients

More than 52,000 Americans die from complications related to high blood pressure every year. Between 1993 and 2004 the rate of death from high blood pressure rose nearly 30 percent . . . . and it’s still rising.
On a worldwide scale the numbers are even more staggering – 7.6 million people die every year as a result of high blood pressure.
Here, in the UK, more than 16 million people suffer from high blood pressure.  And according to the American Heart Association, one in three adults over the age of 20 – that’s about 65 million Americans – now have high blood pressure, affecting young and old alike.
About 25 million of them regularly take at least one prescription drug to control it.
So, you can already start to get a picture of how big the ‘blood pressure’ industry is for the phamaceutical companies.
But, according to a growing body of research, the current mainstream pharmaceutical approach is failing miserably.
A recent study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine reports that only about 30 percent of those being treated for hypertension are “well controlled.” The other 70 percent are still in a danger zone, despite regular treatment with drugs and regular checkups with their doctors.
These are shocking statistics, and when I first discovered the true scale of the problem, I became determined that my name wouldn’t get added to these statistics.
I realized that I had to do something about it quickly or I risked losing everything . . .

A centuries-old secret now made even better using
21st Century Science

As I said earlier, I was one of the lucky ones, because it was through my contacts at the Health Sciences Institute that I was first alerted to a remarkable natural advance developed from ancient Chinese and Ayurvedic remedies stretching back thousands of years.
The Health Sciences Institute focuses most of their research on natural treatments that are largely overlooked by the medical mainstream and the pharmaceutical companies . . . their experts get to hear about groundbreaking new medicines long before they make national headlines.
And that’s where I first heard about the work of Dr Stacey Miller . . .
Dr Miller is a Florida-based, naturopathic doctor, who after years of meticulous study of rare and unusual herbs used in ancient Chinese and Tibetan cultures had formulated a unique combination of four plant extracts:
Holly Leaf (Ilex aquifolium) –  For centuries now, holly leaf has been used as a tea in the mountains of southern China. But it is only recently that the therapeutic effect that this holly leaf can have on high blood pressure has come to the attention of modern medical science. One pharmacological study found that the herb could enhance overall blood circulation by expanding blood vessels, while also helping to diminish cholesterol. What’s more, holly leaf is a mood elevator — many people who take Alistrol notice a feeling of calm wash over them.
Daikon Seed Extract (Raphanus sativus) – ‘Daikon’ (meaning, in Japanese, ‘large root’) is a large, mild radish much esteemed in Asian cuisine, often served grated with sushi and sashimi. And, in traditional Chinese herbal medicine, radish seed is recognized as a wonderful digestive.
But modern medicine has also demonstrated that Daikon seed can help normalize blood pressure and cholesterol while improving overall cardiovascular health. Its main activity, according to the Chinese, is its ability to enhance a person’s “vital energy circulation.”
Chinese Hawthorn Fruit (Crataegus pinnatifida) – Pharmacological studies indicate that Chinese hawthorn fruit – especially the premium hawthorn found only in Alistrol  -  can improve heart function, repair heart-muscle damage, enhance blood flow by dilating heart vessels, reduce arrhythmia, and lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
In a recent study conducted by Reading University in the UK, scientists discovered that a daily dose of hawthorn extract taken over a 16 week period was effective in lowering blood pressure for diabetic patients.
Garlic Extract – an important ingredient that has been shown to help prevent heart disease, high cholesterol and has many other cardiovascular benefits.
Garlic not only helps reduce blood pressure, but also reduces the stickiness of the blood inside the arteries – thereby helpin to prevent the blood from clotting, which could lead to heart attack or stroke.
In another study, conducted by the Department of Biological Sciences at Kuwait University, garlic was found to influence the concentration of nitric oxide in the blood – a substance that can help reduce blood pressure by widening the arteries.
But, better still, Dr. Miller’s natural compound had even undergone a small, double-blind, placebo controlled study.  It confirmed to me that these simple herbs could help

Simple Steps to Lower Blood Pressure

I received some interesting information on the HSI – Daily Health Newsletter and I copy below the main points:

When it comes to determining the cause of high blood pressure, modern medicine remains largely in the dark.

The majority of high blood pressure cases are still considered a mystery and are labelled essential hypertension which as many a medical student has joked in the past means: Essentially, we don’t have a clue.

Whilst hypertension drugs do reduce high blood pressure, they’re still not correcting the underlying problem. Not to mention that nearly all of them have multiple unwanted side effects ranging from fatigue and impotence, to heart failure.

So, assuming you’ve done all the obvious things like stopping smoking, reducing alcohol and losing weight with the help of a healthy balanced diet and regular exercise, what else can you do today to help control your blood pressure and maintain it at safe levels?

1.Up your intake of Vitamin D

Without adequate vitamin D, one of your genes (a tiny part of your DNA) initiates the formation of excess quantities of a molecule called renin. Renin breaks down another molecule, called angiotensinogen, into angiotensin I. Angiotensin I is converted into angiotensin II by a substance known as angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE). The end result angiotensin II is the bad stuff that (in excess amounts) causes high blood pressure.

Vitamin D persuades the gene that controls renin production to become less active, and the end result is less angiotensin II and lower blood pressure.

Take 1,000iu of vitamin D a day. However, you should be aware that it frequently takes two to three months for significant changes to start taking place and six to eight months for vitamin D to take full effect.

2.Increase you levels of CoEnzyme Q10 (CoQ10)

In a double-blind clinical trial, a group of 76 patients with hypertension took 60mg of CoQ10 or a placebo for 12 weeks. At the end of the study, the CoQ10 group had a significant reduction in their blood pressure, leading the researchers to conclude: CoQ10 may safely be offered to hypertensive patients as an alternative treatment option. Take 60 to 120mg of CoQ10 a day.

3. The best fast-acting food supplement for high blood pressure that we’ve come across has been developed by Dr Stacey Miller, a Naturopathic doctor in Florida.

This breakthrough herbal compound has been clinically proven to lower blood pressure fast… in some cases by as much as 9.6 points in as little as 28 days.

Researchers from the University of Maine and Case Western University discovered that this safe and non- aggressive formula lowered blood pressure by an average of 10.6 points systolic and 9.3 points diastolic over the 12 week trial period.

What’s more, it has no side effects and can even be safely used in conjunction with other medication.

Find out how you can benefit from this stunning advance, too, with my special 30-day ‘win-win’ guarantee

Yours sincerely,
